Rehearsal Schedule and more

Posted in Merry Wives by

February 24th, 2010

Hi all,

Here is the calendar for the rest of Merry Wives. House of Windsor folk/fairies are called for next Thursday’s rehearsal… if you are in the scene listed then you need to come to rehearsal. For the working rehearsals the following week, we will slowly be working through the play, so unless you hear otherwise from us, you are called.  If you have conflicts please e-mail me and Aspen. To get our e-mail addresses check your e-mail for our handy cast contact list.

Carolyn would like you all to respond to this prompt:

Our production of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” is one that we are hoping will encourage even the most Shakespeare weary community members to Attend, Enjoy and LOL…. And of course, we’re hoping that you are doing some LOL of your own while learning your lines. Please take a moment and write out your favorite funny, ironic, humorous, silly, Merry Wives’ line, pun, retort… well, you get the point. We will be using these to display at local business…along with some “friends” you may recognized. Keep a lookout for them J

Please send your response to me and Carolyn. Thanks and see those of you who are called tomorrow!

Rehearsal Notes 2/17/10

Posted in Merry Wives by

February 17th, 2010

Hi all,

We had a bit of a discussion at rehearsal tonight  and it was decided to keep what was written in the script (i.e. there are two many references to Hugh being a man and other man related jokes for some of the other characters that changing genders was causing too many problems). So, go with the gender identifications that were in the script originally. Going this route should prove to be a lot of fun – Elizabethan acting in reverse: women playing men/boys instead of boys playing women. If you have any questions regarding this change please let me know.

Also, I have a bit of homework for you all for over the weekend: do some thinking about your character.  If your character were an animal what animal would it be? Try to come up with several (at least three) adjectives that would describe your character. What motivates your character overall? Jealousy, revenge? Go through the scenes that your character is in… what motivates your character in each scene? How does your character stand? Walk? Talk? Interact with other characters? I’ll be quizzing you all next week, so be prepared! ;o)

One other thing. I would like everyone to be off book a month from now. So, by March 22 (that’s a little over a month) I expect everyone to be off book.

Thanks!
-Becca
