Hi all,
We had a bit of a discussion at rehearsal tonight and it was decided to keep what was written in the script (i.e. there are two many references to Hugh being a man and other man related jokes for some of the other characters that changing genders was causing too many problems). So, go with the gender identifications that were in the script originally. Going this route should prove to be a lot of fun – Elizabethan acting in reverse: women playing men/boys instead of boys playing women. If you have any questions regarding this change please let me know.
Also, I have a bit of homework for you all for over the weekend: do some thinking about your character. If your character were an animal what animal would it be? Try to come up with several (at least three) adjectives that would describe your character. What motivates your character overall? Jealousy, revenge? Go through the scenes that your character is in… what motivates your character in each scene? How does your character stand? Walk? Talk? Interact with other characters? I’ll be quizzing you all next week, so be prepared! ;o)
One other thing. I would like everyone to be off book a month from now. So, by March 22 (that’s a little over a month) I expect everyone to be off book.
Thanks!
-Becca
